MedStar Southern Maryland earns AHA NSTEMI Gold recognition
MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center has received the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines – Coronary Artery Disease NSTEMI Gold with Target: Type 2 Diabetes recognition, according to the hospital.

The award reflects the hospital's commitment to rapid, evidence-based care for patients with non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), a serious and potentially life-threatening condition.
More than 1 million cases of acute coronary syndrome require hospitalization in the U.S. each year, with about 70% classified as NSTEMI, caused by a complete blockage in a coronary artery, the hospital noted.
