Dr. Michael O'Neal II named CEO of Ochsner LSU Health Monroe Medical Center

Ochsner LSU Health has named Dr. Michael O'Neal II as chief executive officer of Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center, according to KNOE. O'Neal, a West Monroe native and internal medicine physician trained at LSU Health Shreveport, has served as the hospital's chief medical officer since 2020.

During his CMO tenure, O'Neal advanced clinical quality, improved efficiency in the hospital medicine program, and supported strategic expansion across northeast Louisiana. He has led key committees including ICU, trauma, stroke, and hospitalist service line, and serves as assistant professor of internal medicine at LSU Health Shreveport.

O'Neal succeeds Mark Randolph, who is transitioning to Shreveport to lead Ochsner LSU Health – Academic Medical Center. The 233-bed Monroe facility is northeast Louisiana's first Level III Trauma Center and recently added the 7th Street Multispecialty Clinic, McMillan Multispecialty Clinic, HawkHealth at ULM, emergency department renovations, a new helipad, and the future Monroe Cancer Center.

An economic impact report credits Ochsner LSU Health with contributing $369.1 million to the Monroe area economy, supporting 2,398 jobs, and generating $17.7 million in state and local taxes.
