UChicago Medicine names Amir Ghaferi inaugural chief clinical officer
UChicago Medicine has named Amir Ghaferi, MD, as its first executive vice president and chief clinical officer, according to a Sept. 16 news release reported by Becker's Hospital Review. The seven-hospital system said Ghaferi will begin the enterprisewide role Nov. 16.

Ghaferi currently serves as president and CEO of the physician enterprise at Froedtert Health and as senior associate dean for clinical affairs at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He joined the 10-hospital Froedtert system in December 2022 from Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor, where he was chief clinical officer of the system's medical group, per the release.
Trained in general surgery, Ghaferi's research has focused on safety culture and organizational resilience, with clinical practice in advanced laparoscopic surgery. UChicago Medicine said the role is intended to foster collaboration among faculty and employed and community physicians to advance clinical innovation, ambulatory growth, value-based care and integrated care models.
