Allegheny Health Network names UPMC surgical chief as western region surgical officer
Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network has named Matthew Holtzman, MD, as chief surgical officer for its western region, according to a Sept. 23 news release cited by Becker's Hospital Review. The western region includes AHN Beaver Hospital and AHN Sewickley Hospital.

Holtzman is a surgical oncologist who joins from Pittsburgh-based UPMC, where he reportedly served as medical staff president, vice chair of the Department of Surgery and chief of general surgery at UPMC Shadyside.
His appointment as chief surgical officer is scheduled to begin in March 2027, when he will also take on a role as surgical oncology business development and community relations leader for the western region.
